JC Buehler concentrates on aviation law, insurance, subrogation, commercial litigation, and alternative dispute resolution. He holds a B.A., Indiana University (1977), and J.D., Indiana University McKinney School of Law (1980) and is admitted to practice in Indiana (1980), Illinois (1991) and before the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a registered Civil Mediator.

JC has been an adjunct in aviation law at IU McKinney since 2015. He held previous adjunct appointments in Business and Commercial Law at the University of Indianapolis (1980-82) and the IU Kelley School of Business (1982-87). Other teaching experience includes the Legal Officer/JAG College of the Civil Air Patrol/USAFA, and presenting in numerous mediation and aviation law-related seminars.

JC is an active pilot with experience in air carrier operations, general aviation, and flight training. He is an FAA-Designated Pilot Examiner and holds Airline Transport Pilot and Flight Instructor certificates with several aircraft type ratings. He was a member of the Litigation Committee and various working groups of the Airlines for America, the ICAO Disruptive Passenger Task Force, and the Indiana Governor’s Aviation Asset Management Review Committee. He served as a hearing judge with Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission and as judge pro tem in various state courts. His professional memberships include the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association, the International Air & Transportation Safety Bar Association, the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators and Quiet Birdmen. He is the chairman of the Indiana Aviation Hall of Fame, Inc., and a board member with the Heroes Club, Inc.
